The City of Santa Barbara pays a competitive salary to enable us to attract and retain top talent.

Health & Other Benefits

The City invests in the lives and families of our employees. We offer generous contributions toward a quality selection of medical, dental, and vision plans for employees and their families. Additional benefits include life insurance, disability insurance, educational reimbursement, flexible scheduling, and commuter support programs. Paid time off includes vacation, personal/management leave, paid holidays, sick leave, and compensatory time. Advanced leave accruals may be available for prior government service.

Retirement

The City offers a defined benefit pension plan through the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) designed to ensure the long-term financial stability of our employees. Tax-deferred savings plans and retiree medical insurance are also available.

Non-Safety: 2.7% at 55 for Classic Employees; 2% at 62 for New Employees
Safety: 3% at 50 for Classic Employees; 2.7% at 57 for New Employees
